Key Staff Profiles 

 

Simon Marsh – General Manager


Simon began his career in the thoroughbred industry working his way around many of the leading stud farms including The Royal Studs, Egerton and Lordship Studs in England, Haras de Fresnay le Buffard in France, and Airdrie, Saxony and Lane’s End Farms in the USA. After a year at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Inc, working in the cataloguing department he worked for Pacemaker Publications as International Advertising Director. In 1991 Simon went on to set up his own company Myriad Bloodstock & Communications Ltd. Myriad acts as a bloodstock consultancy and as co-publisher of the Timeform Bloodstock Sales Guides.

 

He was approached by Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber in 1992 to establish a stud at Watership Down. Together they formed a strategy which they have adhered to culminating in what Watership Down Stud is today. In 1996 Kiltinan Stud in Ireland was purchased and both farms are run in tandem, overseen by Simon in conjunction with their individual managers.

  

Terry Doherty – Stud Manager, Watership Down Stud

 

Terry has been with Watership Down Stud since the first post and rails went in. He has worked extensively in the thoroughbred stud industry since 1978 starting at the Earl of Halifax’s Garroby Stud. He has also worked for Meon Valley Stud, The National Stud, Aston Park Stud, Theakstone Stud and spent a year in America.

Terry has over 30 years experience of running both public and private studs and his passion for horses ensures that Watership Down will always be striving for the top.

 

 

 

Jean-Marc Moquet – Stud Manager, Kiltinan Castle Stud

 

Jean-Marc has been involved with horses all his life. He gained his first experience at Haras du Logis in Normandy, France. After graduating from the Irish National Stud management course he spent a year at Lane’s End Farm, Kentucky working in the Stallions and Yearlings division.

He was in the Southern Hemisphere for two years, first at Lindsey Park Racing Stable in Australia and then Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, one of the most successful breeding operations in Australasia. After this he spent a further two years working at Derrinstown Stud in County Kildare, Ireland, followed by a year managing Oldtown Stud also in County Kildare. Jean-Marc has been at Kiltinan Stud since it started.
